Involvement of the FAXE ecosystem for local procurement services of research supplies.

Challenge

The client was facing:

  • Inventory spread across different operators and geographical locations.
  • Risk of logistical disruption due to difficulty in coordinated replenishment.
  • High cost of maintaining oversized inventories "as a precaution".
  • Lack of a supplier focused on the clinical research segment.

Furthermore, there was a demand for efficient cross-docking: receiving air cargo, repackaging it, and quickly shipping it to multiple destinations.

How FAXE operated

  • Implementation of a dedicated GxP area, with physical and logical segregation by sponsor, protocol, and material type.
  • Inventory management systems with traceability by batch, temperature, expiration date, and clinical cost center.
  • Creation of a cross-docking flow: cargo received at the airport was taken to the hub, checked, repackaged, documented, labeled, and dispatched in very short windows, reducing dwell time and risk of loss.
  • Kit assembly procedures and secondary labeling.
  • Stock position reports, materials nearing their expiration date, and movement recommendations - overseen by the Pharmaceutical Transportation team.

Results for the study and for the patient

  • Increased inventory accuracy (100%) and reduced discrepancies in final reconciliations.
  • Shorter lead time between order receipt and delivery to research centers, thanks to structured clinical cross-docking combined with warehousing.
  • Confidence in having a Quality and Regulatory team assisting you throughout the entire process.
